Belmont actually sits at the head of a peninsula


Between the Catawba and its South Fork. And there is very good access to water all around -- including direct public access to the Catawba via Kevin Loftin Riverfront Park on the east end of town.

You have to go about an hour from Charlotte either west or northwestward to hit true hills and mountains. But the land starts to roll nicely on that side of the river, and Belmont is definitely in the right direction to be accessible to them.

I'm very personally biased because it's where I began my own career. But it's a sweet place -- and if I ever were to move back to that area it would be my first choice.
